Through shapes, colours, movement and interaction, ordinary spaces become opportunities to explore, imagine, connect and play. The experience remains open-ended: everyone is free to invent their own use.
Encourage free, spontaneous and creative play.
Bring together different ages, abilities and ways of using a space.
Blend naturally into the landscape and existing infrastructure.
To bring this vision to life, we created Playable by B&A: our own collection of playful urban furniture. Robust, inclusive and designed for multiple uses, each piece sits between design object, urban furniture and play experience, transforming existing spaces without imposing a traditional playground.
Along the Garonne riverfront in Bordeaux, eight public squares within a UNESCO-listed setting were transformed into a playful journey for all ages.
Designed to blend naturally into the existing landscape, each installation invites visitors to play, move, pause and connect. Together, they make Bord’eau Village a more engaging, inclusive and memorable destination.

A Child-Friendly City places children's needs at the heart of urban design, creating safe, inclusive and engaging environments where they can move freely, interact and play as part of everyday life.
Designing at a child's scale ultimately creates better places for everyone: more welcoming, more social, more active and more adaptable. Explore the principles, research and practical applications behind this approach in our dedicated white paper.
"When the cities are good for the children, they will be good for all"

The questions our clients and partners ask most — and what makes our approach different.
Playable is our collection of robust, inclusive playful urban furniture. It turns everyday public spaces into places to stop, explore, connect and return.
The approach comes from Bristol (UK) and is built on inclusivity, multi-use and harmony with the territory.
Playable is made for local authorities, architects and landscape architects, and anyone shaping public spaces and urban planning projects.
It welcomes children, parents and grandparents alike, so the space is used by the whole neighbourhood.
A standard playground is a fenced area for one age group. Playable pieces blend into the urban fabric and invite play for all ages, in several ways.
They are multi-use and can evolve over time, which makes the space more intergenerational and more inclusive.
Inclusivity is at the heart of the concept. Playable is designed so that people of different ages and abilities can use the same space together.
Accessibility requirements, including PMR access, are reviewed project by project.
Yes. Playable is built to be robust, with materials and structures chosen for daily outdoor use and low maintenance. Safety follows EN 1176 where it applies.
We also design pieces that last and that people want to come back to, because lasting design is part of sustainability.
