A play area full of adventures for an exceptional estate
With its two castles and rolling landscape in the heart of the Périgord Vert, Domaine d'Essendiéras is an exceptional setting for family stays. The renovation of its play area had to extend this experience, for children aged 1 to 15.
Close to the campsite and the lodges, a fully fenced peninsula hosts this new 1,600 m² space, preserving the natural character of the site.
The estate's two castles were the starting point: letting children step into their own castle story, at a scale they can explore. The black locust wood dialogues with the vegetation and the terrain.
A castle with a slide opens the course. The climbing nests form refuges. A zip line, a trampoline and swings round out the whole, from first motor discoveries to challenges for the older ones.
I called on Bleu & Associés to reimagine the play island at the Domaine d'Essendiéras. Delphine and her team came up with a design perfectly suited to the place: a castle for the children, echoing the Château du Domaine, and wooden structures that blend harmoniously into the landscape. The whole team was very responsive and available to deliver the project within the very tight deadlines we had set. I particularly appreciated the turnkey solution, from design to project and site management, through to delivery with all the documents certifying compliance. Highly recommended!
