Project details
Parents go shopping, children go on an adventure
Within the Belval Plaza shopping centre in Luxembourg, the goal was to convert a 420 m² unit into a childcare play area, in line with the Family Experiences concept: a differentiating, high-value service that lets parents enjoy some shopping time with complete peace of mind.
The space had to be safe, durable and supervised, encouraging autonomy, motor skills and socialisation alike.
We imagined Hello Kids as a true family wellness bubble integrated into the shopping centre's customer journey. More than a simple childcare space, the project is a playful destination in its own right.
At the heart of the layout, a monumental 195 m² crochet sculpture on three levels stands out as an iconic piece. A true kaleidoscope of colours, it turns the space into an immersive, sensory world. Children move through an airy, enveloping structure where they climb, scale, crawl, jump and explore up to 4 metres high.
A giant ball pit, a NEST module with three nests and a slide, bespoke motor skills games, an area for creative workshops run by the hostesses and a stage for artistic activities complete the space.
The concept is entirely built around the development of overall motor skills and learning through play. The layout also encourages moments of sharing, interaction and collaborative games.
The project develops overall motor skills and coordination, builds self-confidence and stimulates the senses and cognitive abilities. It encourages collaborative play, creates social bonds and gives families a positive, reassuring experience.
